Online License and Permit Services Now Available for Interpreters and Transliterators
MONTGOMERY, Ala.—February 28, 2006—Alabama’s interpreters and Transliterators know the importance of good communication. The Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT) has taken advantage of one of the world’s best forms of communication, the Internet, with the release of its new online application and renewal service (www.albit.staate.al.us). Individuals applying for, or renewing their permit or license with the Board, may now do so online.
The new system allows interpreters and Transliterators to renew their licenses or permits by logging into the system with their current license or permit number. Other options provided by the online service are initial licensure and permit applications for first-time applicants. All information is sent securely once payments have been received via electronic check or credit card.
“The Board is very excited to have the ability to offer such innovative services and conveniences to our interpreters and Transliterators”, said Belinda Montgomery, Chairwoman of the Board. “This is one more example of how the use of technology will create efficiencies for ALBIT’s constituents and staff”. These efficiencies are already being realized; in the first month of service, ALBIT has already experienced excellent user acceptance by their constituents.
The online license and permit services were created through a partnership with the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators and Alabama Interactive, the State’s official partner for online government services (www.alabama.gov).
